OBJECTIVES

Aims

  1. To determine the ability of Sphagnum moss peat in adsorbing lead(II) and zinc ion

  2. To investigate the kinetics of adsorption of lead(II) and zinc ions by peat

  3. To investigate the competition between lead(II) and zinc ions on the adsorption sites on peat

  4. To construct and evaluate the performance of a filter with peat as a filtration media in removing lead(II) and zinc ions

  1. Sphagnum moss peat is able to remove lead(II) and zinc ions.

  2. Peat has a higher adsorption capacity for lead(II) ions during competitive adsorption of lead(II) and zinc ions.

  3. The filter is able to remove lead(II) and zinc ions.
